RCAN's role in Rural Services

Members of the Rural Community Action Network (RCAN) work with rural communities, groups and individuals to develop projects, initiatives and approaches in response to changing needs. RCAN's aim is to try to ensure that rural communities thrive and do not become places where only the rich can afford to live. Their work featured here relates to support for rural services through different initiatives and projects including housing, transport, and support for particular sections within a community

RCAN members are rural services specialists

The Rural Community Action Network (RCAN) has specialists that can provide advice and support about a wide range of services for and into rural areas including:

  • Transport Room set up for a parish plan meeting with lots of information boards
  • Community services - shops, banks and post offices
  • Health and social care
  • Young people
  • Childcare
  • Older people
  • Housing
  • Local area development and environmental improvements
  • Crime & community safety

RCAN members also work on different areas that relate to Services including Community Led Planning and Community Assets
