Children and Young People

For many children and young people and their families, the ‘rural idyll’ of living in the countryside is far from the reality where there are no cinemas, clubs, or other facilities that their urban counterparts take for granted. This isolation from services is often exacerbated by few transport options and hidden poverty. Unsurprisingly rural communities are anxious to hold onto their younger residents, who will determine the future character of their areas and ensure a more balanced community.

ACRE has complied a number of Policy Position Papers reflecting the issues of importance to rural communities and how our members in RCAN respond to them.

The text below highlights part of ACRE's Policy Position Paper about Children and Young People.

ACRE believes that children and young people should have the opportunity to have equitable access to both age specific and wider services in ways that meets their own needs and those of their families and carers.
