Village Hall Information Service

ACRE works at regional and national level to raise awareness of the needs of rural halls and the committees managing them.

The Rural Community Action Network of village hall advisers provides an information and advice service for village hall management committees. They are supported by ACRE's Rural Community Buildings Officer.

If your village hall management committees needs guidance about a particular topic ACRE strongly recommends that you contact your adviser. There is a myriad of information available from many sources and on all subjects from health and safety legislation to funding. Your adviser is experienced and will help you to access information that is specific to village halls.

One way to gain recognition for a well run and managed hall is through the Hallmark Scheme.

ACRE is a member of the Community Sector Law Monitoring Group. This group is dedicated to monitoring legislation and its impact on voluntary sector organisations.

Village halls are public buildings run by dedicated groups of volunteers, who have the responsibility for all aspects of management of the building in line with current legislation. Village and community halls play important roles in their community as they provide a facility for social, recreational and cultural activity. With the support of its parish council, an active hall can greatly improve the quality of life for the community.
