What Communities can do?
For decades ACRE and the Rural Community Action Network (RCAN) have been developing local and national initiatives to support strong rural communities. Using shared knowledge and experience and our links with grass roots community action, we can provide guidance and support to meet the challenges ahead.
ACRE takes the view that behavioural change is more powerful if issues are made locally relevant and communities recognise the impact of their own lifestyle with whole communities becoming engaged in taking action. RCAN members work with communities to help them identify local solutions to their own future based on the challenges they identify. This process engages those who just want to improve their local community and may not be attracted to action on climate change issues alone. Click on the relevant web pages to see how RCAN is tackling the future with rural communities.
