Small Charity Week 2017: Big Advice Day
by Chris Cowcher,

ACRE is delighted to promote and offer our support to Small Charity Week, a week-long celebration of the many achievements of the UK’s small charity sector. Run by the Foundation for Social Improvement, this 6 day event involves online activity and events across the country and raises awareness of small charities, promoting the invaluable contribution they make to the lives of millions of individuals, communities and causes across the UK.

"Our Network proudly supports many small, rural-based charities and being able to take part in Small Charity means that we can not only promote the importance of small charities but also let these organisations know who to contact when they need advice and support themselves.”

The ACRE Network has proudly supported small charities throughout its 90 year history offering advice and support to those volunteers involved with charities at the heart of England’s rural communities. Supporting volunteers running village halls and community buildings remains as much a key part of the Network’s work today as it did when the founding members were established in the 1920s. Whether advice is needed in relation to governance, writing or updating a business plan, looking for funding or recruiting and retaining volunteers the ACRE Network is a useful starting point for any rural charity looking for support.

Chris Cowcher, ACRE Community Manager said “It is fantastic that celebratory campaigns like ‘Small Charity Week’ exist and we congratulate FSI for the initiative. It is so important that we do not take these organisations, which are often heavily reliant on volunteers for granted. This week enables us to celebrate the diversity of small charities, promote their many achievements and champion their role in creating vibrant and thriving communities.

Our Network proudly supports many small, rural-based charities and being able to take part in Small Charity means that we can not only promote the importance of small charities but also let these organisations know who to contact when they need advice and support themselves.”

Tuesday 20th June is ‘Big Advice Day’ in the Small Charity Week calendar, with events being held up and down the country – more information can be found on the Small Charity Week website. The ACRE Network offer advice to small charities all year round and any group looking for support is encouraged to find out who their local ACRE Network member is and see what is available in their area.
