ACRE response to Building a Mutual Post Office consultation

On 19 September 2011, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) released a consultation entitled Building a Mutual Post Office, which explored what a mutual Post Office Ltd might look like. It sought feedback for more clarity on the issues that the Government would need to take into account before mutualisation could be achieved.

ACRE's response to the consultation welcomed the model of a mixed mutualisation proposed by the Government but had some concerns about the stated assurances in respect of access to the network for rural communities. ACRE wrote an earlier Briefing paper which set out details of the Government's proposal to mutualise.
