Improving performance

It is important for all organisations to regularly review and improve their performance and to ensure, as far as possible, that they are implementing good practice in both organisational management and providing a user-centred service.

There are many quality marks that help organisations to improve their performance and ACRE encourages its members to pursue a variety of these.

In particular, the Rural Community Action Network has two bespoke and pioneering quality standards:

  • ACRE developed ‘The ACRE Good Practice Quality Standards’ based on nine areas of organisational management. These are organised in three incremental levels and RCCs have had great success in implementing the requirements of the ACRE Standards – verified by external Peer Review, since 2004.
  • The Rural Community Action Network has also developed Hallmark – a quality mark for good practice in the management of village halls. Many RCCs are promoting this scheme at a local level.
