Action with Communities in Rural England

ACRE’s rural vision

Our vision is that rural communities will increasingly take a leading role in ensuring the social, environmental and economic well-being of all their residents. They will do this in a way that provides for the present generation and also plans for future needs and future challenges. RCAN members will be there to stimulate their thinking, support their work and help turn their aspirations into reality.

ACRE events

ACRE runs a program of events throughout the year.  Some are restricted events open only to the Network or specified members of the Network. Other events are open to the public. Perhaps the most influential of these events is the long-standing rural life conference. The rural life conference has been running in one form or another since the 1930’s and attracts speakers such as government ministers, senior civil servants, the Rural Advocate and leading activists and figures from the third sector.

RCAN Business & Enterprise Event – Tuesday 7 September 2010

All RCAN members are invited to this free, one-day event, showcasing the best enterprising initiatives from members around the country – everything from offering back office services and training courses through to adopting a railway station. This is a great opportunity to share ideas and gain inspiration to develop sustainable products and services.

The event is being held at the Ramada Grantham Hotel, organised by Community Lincs. It is open to all RCAN member staff and lunch/refreshments will be provided. There is no charge, but BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL: click here for the booking form.

Forward your completed booking form to jenny.stone@communitylincs.com or call her on 01529 302466 for further information.

Fieldworkers Conference 2010

RuralCAN RCAN Fieldworkers’ Conference 2010

8th & 9th June 2010 in York

RuralCAN’s main objective is to provide fieldworkers in rural areas with a range of information and skills to support them in their roles.   Aimed primarily at Community Development Workers, Rural Housing Enablers and people working on access to services projects, the majority of the programme was chosen by fieldworkers themselves.

The RuralCAN Conference 2010 will feature colleagues working for similar organisations to yours across the country hosting workshops and training about their successful projects.  In addition national organisations including National Energy Action, Action for Market Towns,  the Homes and Communities Agency and Planning Aid will bring their experience and expertise when presenting tailored workshops at this event.   RuralCAN comprises two plenary and six workshop sessions with a choice of workshops over both days.

Prices are set out in the programme.  Costs are inclusive of overnight accommodation, refreshments and meals on both days.  The event is subsidised significantly to RCAN members.
