WMRCAN has been developed in response to the government trend towards regionalisation. It is an informal, non-constituted body consisting of the Chief Officers of the four Rural Community Action Network members in the region. They meet informally and have developed combined protocols and a business plan. The network also collaborates with other local and regional partners on rural issues. WMRCAN’s aims are to:
-
Combat disadvantage and enhance service delivery to local communities
-
Reflect the interests of rural communities to regional partners
-
Facilitate the engagement of local communities in the regional strategic agenda
-
Share expertise and good practice
-
Build RCAN capacity to deliver equitable services across the region.
