Action with Communities in Rural England

ACRE’s rural vision

Our vision is that rural communities will increasingly take a leading role in ensuring the social, environmental and economic well-being of all their residents. They will do this in a way that provides for the present generation and also plans for future needs and future challenges. RCAN members will be there to stimulate their thinking, support their work and help turn their aspirations into reality.

North West

North West Rural Community Councils, NWRCC, is a collaborative company linking all the Rural Community Action Network members within the North West, drawing experience, knowledge and talent into the regional forum. NWRCC incorporated as a company limited by guarantee (no: 05839494) in 2006 and has since registered as a charity (no: 1120969).

The work of NWRCC is planned and managed by a Board of nine directors, elected annually by the members and comprises three representatives of each RCAN member. NWRCC currently has no staff members; however the work is shared between each RCAN member depending on expertise.

The vision that underpins the work of NWRCC is:

  • To be a leading catalyst for community development in the North West - predominantly in rural areas.
  • To enable RCAN members to provide high quality services to empower people to build sustainable rural communities in a pleasant environment
  • To determine that the policies of government, agencies and authorities at local, regional and national level take account of rural communities
  • To ensure that the rural voice is heard.
