Action with Communities in Rural England

ACRE’s rural vision

Our vision is that rural communities will increasingly take a leading role in ensuring the social, environmental and economic well-being of all their residents. They will do this in a way that provides for the present generation and also plans for future needs and future challenges. RCAN members will be there to stimulate their thinking, support their work and help turn their aspirations into reality.

North East Rural Community Councils (RuCANNE)

RuCANNE is the network of the three Rural Community Action Network members, working across the North East, our strategic work across the region is developed and managed by a Steering Group made up of the Directors and Chairs from the three RCAN members in the region.

As a Regional Network, RuCANNE plans to prioritise the following areas of activity:

  • Active representation and engagement with the Rural Community Action Network
  • Developing regional rural networking between agencies and stakeholders
  • Developing rural support activity at regional level, through engagement with the LEADER programmes, provision of support for community buildings and provision of back office support for rural infrastructure organisations
  • Developing a regional evidence and database to support rural proofing and for influencing work.
