Head of Policy and Research

Allan Williams joined ACRE as Head of Policy and Research in October 2007. His responsibilities include:

Ensuring that the views of rural communities and RCCs are taken in account in the development of policies affecting them
Collating and disseminating relevant information throughout the RCC network and to ACRE’s other stakeholders

He was Senior Policy Advisor at Which? - formerly Consumers' Association - where he was responsible for telecoms, broadcasting and e-commerce issues. He worked on the campaign for the reform of communications regulation, which led to the setting up of Ofcom, and he chaired the government's Consumer Expert Group on digital TV. He is a member of the Ofcom Consumer Panel, and is trying to complete a PhD thesis on ethical consumption.
