Gloucestershire Rural Community Council

Gloucestershire Rural Community Council (GRCC) is a Charitable Company Limited by Guarantee, established in 1923. GRCC is a member of the Rural Community Action Network (RCAN) which consists of 38 Rural Community Councils across England and SWAN (South West ACRE Network). ACRE is the national umbrella body for all RCAN members.

We are proud to hold Level 3 of the ACRE Good Practice Quality Standard which is endorsed by The Charity Commission as showing the ‘hallmarks of an effective charity’. The standard is also endorsed by Defra and it demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to consistently monitor and review its operational procedures, providing the assurance that GRCC is fit for purpose and effectively managed.

GRCC has also been reassessed against the IiP (Investors in People) standard in July 2010 and retained the standard. Our IIP reviewer singled out how ‘trustees and staff work together to professionally deliver initiatives that provide valuable support in the community’.

GRCC was established in 1923 and is a charitable company limited by guarantee. We:

  • Engage with Gloucestershire's rural communities to enable sustainable community development and empower community groups
  • Work in partnership with individuals and organisations
  • Seek to influence policy makers at local, regional and national level
