ACRE Briefings
ACRE prepares Briefings on topics of interest to its membership in RCAN (the Rural Community Action Network) and others.The Briefings are produced primarily for our members but are also of wider relevance. ACRE Briefings are written often in response to new initiatives or proposals including government policy announcements and the like.
AgeingACRE compiled a Briefing in 2009 entitled Building a society for all ages and Working together for Older People in Rural Areas. It summarised the then Government Strategy on Ageing: Building a Society for all ages and the related document Working Together for Older People in Rural Areas that examines evidence on the social exclusion experienced by older people in rural areas and identifies examples of innovative service delivery that is making a difference.
Community Led PlanningCommunity Led Planning (CLP) can build the ‘Big Society’. Across England people are getting involved in Community Led Plans, volunteering their time and energy to help shape the future of their community. By coming together, evidencing local needs, exploring solutions and implementing a plan of action, they are generating a stronger, more sustainable society that is less reliant on the state to get things done.
Fuel Poverty BriefingACRE compiled a briefing on fuel poverty summarising DECC's fuel poverty statistics and a report produced by the Rural Services Network on understanding rural fuel poverty.
HousingACRE has published a number of Briefings on rural affordable housing. The Briefings are produced primarily for our members in the Rural Community Action Network but are also of wider relevance. ACRE Briefings, are written normally in response to a relevant topic such Government policy announcements or other new initiatives. Featured briefings include those on community led housing and the Taylor Review.
Rural ServicesACRE prepares Briefings on topics of interest to its membership in RCAN (the Rural Community Action Network) and others. These include Briefings relevant to rural community services such as pubs and post offices.
The 2011 Budget StatementACRE has produced a briefing which covers the main points in the 23 March Budget statement, that are relevant to rural communities and those that support them.
